Our Commitment to Sustainability

Colombia-Amazon

At Bomboná, sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s a responsibility. Every April 22nd, Earth Day reminds us to celebrate and protect our planet, but at Bomboná, our commitment goes far beyond a single day. We are constantly reflecting on how we create, who we work with, and the legacy we want to leave behind.

We believe in doing fashion differently. As a slow fashion brand from Colombia, we are committed to thoughtful design, small-scale production, and materials that respect both people and the planet. Today, we’d love to share what sustainability means to us—and how it shapes every bag we create.

Slow Fashion: Quality Over Quantity

We design with intention. In a world that encourages overconsumption, we proudly stand for conscious consumerism. That means:

  • Using high-quality, durable materials so that your bag lasts for years, not seasons.

  • Designing timeless pieces that transcend trends and can be worn across seasons and styles.

  • Encouraging our customers to buy less, choose better, and cherish each product for a long time.

Sustainable Leather: Ethical and Local

Leather can be sustainable—when sourced thoughtfully. At Bomboná, we use full grain leather, which is the strongest and most durable part of the hide. We source it as a by-product of Colombia’s traditional cattle farming industry, specifically from the Nariño region.

Why Nariño? This high-altitude region in southern Colombia produces exceptional hides, and we collaborate with small, family-owned tanneries who work closely with local farmers. This not only ensures traceability but also supports regional economies and reduces our carbon footprint by keeping our supply chain local.

Small-Scale & Zero-Waste Production

Every Bomboná piece is handmade in Colombia by skilled artisans who uphold the values of care, precision, and resourcefulness. We intentionally produce in small batches, ensuring:

  • Minimal overproduction

  • Fair labor practices

  • Repurposing of leather scraps to create smaller accessories or detailing

We’re proud to be a zero waste leather brand, always looking for creative ways to use every piece of material and reduce landfill.

Eco-Conscious Packaging

Our sustainability efforts don’t stop with our products. We also use eco-friendly packaging to minimize environmental impact:

  • No single-use plastic

  • No wasteful paper tags

  • Foldable, reusable boxes printed with vegetable-based inks

Every detail of our packaging is designed to be reused or recycled, making it as beautiful as it is responsible.

Looking Ahead: A Journey, Not a Destination

Sustainability is a continuous journey. As we grow, we remain committed to evolving our practices. Some of our future goals include:

  • Integrating recycled materials where possible
  • Continuing to innovate with artisans and material suppliers
